The last time I needed to do a merge (modified MAPICS code during an upgrade), I
was in a shop that had S/Compare-Harmonizer, which I used for many years. It
worked very well as long as we used common sense when making our mods. I
haven't had a valid test case since then to try the PDM merge on.
I also haven't used the PDM compare much, either, as I've had CODE since 1999
and prefer the CODE compare. I feel it would be worth installing CODE just for
that, although I also still need it for Designer (since we're still stuck on
WDSCi) and VisualAge RPG (still supporting one app written in it). Note that
the compare extension in NotePad++ is similar in concept and function to the
CODE tool, which is one of the reasons I use that particular free editor for
Windows batch files and such.

I generally agree - the SoftLanding one is closer to the CODE tool -
side by side.
Still, this one does ignore the dates, which the "Compare with..." does
not. I wasn't sure which tool anyone was actually referring to. :)
One prob with SL's merge is, all source dates are changed - I wish it'd
preserve those that haven't had a change.
I actually prefer, for source compare or merge, the 54 and 55 options in
PDM - awesome tools - nice split screen for selecting what to merge -
nothing quite like it in RDp. I hear that various merge tools exist with
as much capability, but haven't really seen one for the i.
