This particular symptom has never happened before. I don't change fonts
often. What prompted the change was that my eyes are going bad after 30
years and I needed the table fonts to be bigger. The only way to effect
that in RDp (that I have found) is to change the Windows setting for
MessageBox font. I had changed that setting and the Menu font size as
well. Clicked OK, and poof! RDp was gone.

No error -- I mean it just disappears, in a blink it's gone. The instance
of javaw also is gone.

This one is new where Verify or Outline refresh wasn't called for. You
said this was "not a regular occurrence"; has this happened before doing the
same thing, or if not, do you recall what was being done to cause it to
abruptly end?

Rational disappeared! Not a regular occurrence but thought I'd mention

it.

There was no left-over JVM running after it disappeared.

When this happens, do you get a error dialog that indicates a return code?
Possibly with some java information displayed also?
