Edmund,

For me it's:

- Quick and easy queries. Both simple and complex.
- Saved queries. Both in Quantum history and to text file on disk.
- Easy export to Excel

I have looked at the tools in RDP a little but haven't found the ease of use that Quantum provides.

Just for my education
What does Quantum DB give you that you don't get with the RDp data tools that come integrated?

Rick,
My install location is C:\IBM\SDP7.6\, this is where eclipse.exe sits. I would download the archive, extract the contents into a temp
folder. There is probably only two folders. Place the contents of
those two folders in the corresponding folders at the end of the folder
where eclipse.exe sits. Re-start RDp and it should be active.

Another option is iNav Run SQL Script for 7.1 (the OS does not have to be at 7.1 to use it, just some features will not work in iNav).
It allows you to save your results as .CSV, .XML or an Excel file, something I believe Quantum allows you to do as well.

As test you could see if you can install RDp at home and then attempt to install Quantum DB, if so then your network people are probably blocking a port required for the update tool , I have had that happen to me. Installing over the web would not work in WDSC but using the update manger always worked.

You fail safe is to just keep WDSC around. I have to keep WDSC 7.x just to use the web page designer tool.

Thanks, Matt

Well, theoretically, you should be able to just drop the plug-in in
that directory and it should be picked up by the underlying eclipse framework.<

I think I'm missing something. What directory would I drop the plug-in into?

I think you may have something with the update manager. I seem to
get errors on every site in the list even if it was placed there by the install.

If you download the feature & plug-in, you should be able to extract them somewhere else and point the update manager at that location and install them.

I would focus on why the update manager isn't working ... I looked at the quantum db update site and there should be nothing wrong with it.
