In other words, Jeff, no they do not. When you have multiple overlapping
fields with indicators, they just appear as a big blob on the screen. You
can pop into the outline and select the field for properties there, but
getting at a field that's under another field is virtually impossible with
the mouse. A fabulous feature of SDA that I miss too.

Hi Jeff

The indicator settings that you set in the the 'Design Page Controls'
section is only for testing your screen in preview, much like you would in
SDA option 3 when you specify the buffer contents of the record you want to
test.

The indicator expression that you specify on your field in the Indicators
tab of the properties for that field, is what is actually stored in the DDS
and is used to condition that field on and off.

Edmound,
When I set indicator conditions in preview mode, do they cary over to the
design
mode?
I have fields that are conditioned on indicators that overlay each other.
In
design mode, how do I set the condition for the desired field, or set off
the
condition for the current field so that I can enter a new field in its
place.
This was done in the past using Code Designer.

Thanks,

You're welcome Jeff

For screen designer, the visible effect of indicators is shown in the
preview mode. But you can still specify indicators in the fields
properties, just go the the Indicators tab and specify the indicator
expression for when you want the field to be visible.

Thanks,
I knew it had to be there somewhere, but could not find it.

On another note, using the screen designer, is there a way to set the
indicators
for conditions in the design view?
I can set them in the preview mode, but need to be able to set conditions
so
that I can overlay fields based on conditions.

Thanks,

Hi Jeff

The width of the report is something that is not defined in DDS, but is a
part of the compile command.
These types of contextual information that go into the report (such as
order in which records written, sample field data, indicators, page size)

Click on the 'Design reports' and you will be able to specify the Page
size including columns (columns is under lines you may need to size the
'Report controls' to be taller in order to see it)
You will also want to name the report and go to the Records tab and add the
records that make up this report in the order they would be written.
Note that you can add a record multiple times, which makes a lot of sense
for a detail record

Enjoy!

I just installed RDp 8.0.1 and am attempting to use the report designer to
edit
an existing print file that is 198 characters wide.
When I bring it up in Report Designer, I only see 132 characters.
If I try moving the scroll bar on the bottom, it just increases the font
size.
I have looked for a setting that will allow me to tell it to use a 198
character
width, but can not find it.

All help will be appreciated.

Thanks,
