Thanks for being an advocate for the product
While people can use the standard Ctrl-C, Ctrl-X, Ctrl-V for copy, cut and
paste, these operate on stream selection
I find line selection and block selection much more helpful for IBM i
development
To set the bounds of the selection you use
Alt-L on first and last line for a range of lines
Alt-R on top-left and bottom-right corners for a rectangular selection
Alt-B for regular wrapping character selection
(The 'select' menu item on the context menu from the editor will show this)
Once you have your range of interest selected, you can do
Alt-C to copy
Alt-M to move
Alt-D to delete
Alt-Z to overlay
Alt-K to upper case
Alt-I to lower case
Alt-F7 to shift left
Alt-F8 to shift right
(the 'selected' menu item on the right click menu from the editor will show
all of these options)
So you have tremendous power that far outshines SEU

Was talking with a developer who tried using WDSc when it first came out
and, since he had issues with it, he dropped. I told him that those issues
were probably addressed and he should try looking at it again. The first,
and biggest issue, was that he could not do block copy and paste of code.
I
found that you can do block copies (Windows --> Preferences --> LPEX Editor
--> Block --> rectangle) but I could not find a way to do a block paste.
When I copied a section of a data structure, lets say the names only, I
could not paste that into another source, overlaying the names of that data
structure. Does anyone know of a way to do this?
Also, and very much a minor issue, he does not like it when using the
Backspace button to delete a character and have everything to the right of
the cursor move over. I found where I could map an action (BackSpace
Left)
so that it would not delete the character and therefore not move the rest
of
the line, but I'm wondering if there is a way do it with deleting the
character.
I'm trying to address his and other developers issues with moving to RDp
because we are currently on V5R4 and going to a Power7 box with V7R1 and
want everyone to be able to make an informed choice of either getting ADTS
or RDp.
