Vern,

You are right, rectangular selection plus block fill (from command line) is
great for commenting out code or blanking out or deleting sequence numbers.
I use that all the time.

Its great the way you guys multiply the value of the product with your own
creativity.

I use the rectangular selection a lot - and I really like having
drag-drop now in RDp 7.6 (I assume it's also in 8). The drag-drop style,
of course, is for stream selections. Even better, I can drag from one
editor window to another. This is like SEU's F15 split window copying on
steroids. Thanks for this new feature.

Another feature I use a lot is filling a selection - any selection -
with a character of string - it wraps in the selection, as I recall - I
often use it to put a change marker in columns 1-5 of RPG code. Or to
comment a section of code.

Was talking with a developer who tried using WDSc when it first came out
and, since he had issues with it, he dropped. I told him that those

issues

were probably addressed and he should try looking at it again. The

first,

and biggest issue, was that he could not do block copy and paste of code.
I
found that you can do block copies (Windows --> Preferences --> LPEX

Editor

--> Block --> rectangle) but I could not find a way to do a block

paste.

When I copied a section of a data structure, lets say the names only, I
could not paste that into another source, overlaying the names of that

data

structure. Does anyone know of a way to do this?

Also, and very much a minor issue, he does not like it when using the
Backspace button to delete a character and have everything to the right

of

the cursor move over. I found where I could map an action (BackSpace
Left)
so that it would not delete the character and therefore not move the rest
of
the line, but I'm wondering if there is a way do it with deleting the
character.

I'm trying to address his and other developers issues with moving to RDp
because we are currently on V5R4 and going to a Power7 box with V7R1 and
want everyone to be able to make an informed choice of either getting

or RDp.
