Installation Manager is your ally in this procedure.

I suggest starting Installation Manager (IM) and then hitting the big Update button. If you only have one package group installed, it's simple - just hit next and the program will walk you through the steps. Sometimes IM itself requires an update. I just ran through the steps while typing this message and IM first updated itself, then it restarted and I updated my WebSphere Test Environment (I'm running RBD in my workspace as well as RDP).

Warning: updates are typically not small. You'll need a good Internet pipe to get things in a timely manner. My home system can take hours to download updates. But other than that, updates are pretty painless.

When my colleagues& I run debug over RPG programs, it sometimes
"hangs". We did not have this problem with 7.6 version. We have heard
that we should update to a newer release/PTF. Currently we are on
8.0.0. How do we get the newer release? Can someone please provide
precise how to instructions?
