It's amazing how hard it is to stop using PDM and move to this new
environment.

John,

I'm still using WDSc7, but I have to encourage you to stick with it.
Once you get over the initial learning curve, which you'll encounter
with any new IDE, you'll be amazed how much more productive the new
environment is. You won't go back. I still use PDM once in a while for a
fast and dirty, like a minor CL patch, but that's about it. No contest.
It's also a great leg up on getting into another language like Java or
PHP. I use Eclipse for that, but it's so similar to WDSc, that it's a
slam dunk. Decent HTML editor these days too.

There's a reason that Eclipse is so similar to WDSc - it's because WDSc is built on top of Eclipse :). That's why I tell people that even if they can't install the Rational products at home, then at least install Eclipse. Eclipse will run on just about any machine that you would use at home for email or whatever; it's very small and lightweight. Use that to get the feel for the tool (and you might even run through a Java tutorial for fun <grin>).
