So far, I have not seen anything really new for i users... and some of the old plugins, as David said... no longer work. (TN5250j plugin puked up the works.) But, as I said earlier... the SVN history graph is now working in 8, wasn't in 7.6.

I still see the damned disconnect issue, so I would, at this moment, say no, no compelling reason to jump on today. But I also haven't seen anything that is a show stopper for i users yet.

Any real reason to jump to 8.0 other than Eclipse 3.6 ?

Well, I've had a bit more time to play around with RDP 8 and I can tell you a bit more:

If you are using a 3rd party plug-in designed to work with RDI 7.5, RDP 7.5, or RDP 7.6, there's a good possibility that it will not work with RDI 8.0. It may not even install.

This is primarily due to the removal of a feature& plug-in that the 3rd party plug-in may be dependent on ... and the change from Eclipse 3.2 to 3.6 (which changed the RSE framework slightly).

Some of the issues appear to be relatively easy to work around ... others, not so much.
