I have gotten source locks from the Screen designer to go away just by
reopening the source in just the Lpex editor and then reclosing it.

I have had other issues when opening a display file in the Screen
Designer for the first time. If it's the first time that source has
ever been opened for my current cache I have to open the member in Lpex
only mode and then reopen in Screen Designer. If you don't then all the
windows won't auto generate from the Code Designer's source entries.

On another note, I have found the Browse view of Screen Designer
unusable. In Code Designer you could open a member even if the member
was read only. You still had the full functionality, add Screen views,
click on fields to see properties, and so on. Now with Screen Designer
in Browse mode or in Preview mode, you can only look. If you had a
question on what a field is you have to note the location and then go
look for somewhere else (like in the Lpex source mode), or copy the
member to a library you have update capability too.

Did you try the source tab? It's basically the LPEX editor although a
little easier to navigate (you can use the outline to move through the
source).

Actions on multiple objects isn't implemented. In general that part of
the tool (accessing multiple objects) seems like it's not entirely
thought through.

I couldn't recreate the source lock today, but it happens occasionally,
and not necessarily just in the Screen Designer. Close your connection
and it goes away. If not, go into Jobs under the connection, open "My
DDM server jobs". Cancel the QRWTSRVR there.

Joe

First go at screen designer

Needed to fusion information from 2 record formats to make a new one.
Can't seem to copy one format to a new one as in SDA Can select
multiple fields but can't delete them all as in SDA

Left screen designer for SDA

Can't use SDA as QRWTSRVR has not let go of the source. ENDJOB needed.
(Just need to find the right job to end).

Had enough.
Going home now
Sticking to LPEX and RSE from now on.
