This is from searching in Help in Word 2003:

You can find and replace all instances of single or double
curly quotes with straight quotes in your document. To do
this, clear the "Straight quotes"
with "smart quotes" check box on the AutoFormat As You Type
tab. On the Edit menu, click Replace. In both the Find what
and Replace with boxes, type ' or ", and then click Find Next
or Replace All.

So, just replace all the curly quotes to straight quotes
before you do your cut and paste, and that should fix it.

Word defaults to using curly quotes rather than standard straight
quotes.
That's the cause of your problem. Go into the Autocorrect options
(it's in the Tools menu in Word 2003, not sure how to find
it in Word
2007, since I don't have that) and turn off the Replace as
you type
option for converting straight quotes to curly quotes.

Thanks, I've disabled it on my pc but the problem is coming from me
pasting text copied from other users' documents.
