In the first year upgrades are "free", there is a SWM charge after that.

I upgraded from RDi 7.1 to RDi 7.5 sometime last year when 7.5 came out and there was nothing about paying for the upgrade and as far as I know, we didn't get billed for the upgrade so I assume it was part of the lic.
agreement that updates were included when we first purchased our lic. of RDi.
