Speaking of EGL, the manufacturers of our GUI are presently preparing a POC for us.

When converting our RPG programs to EGL, they said that pointers are not supported.

So all our (service) programs using pointers need to be wrapped in an RPG call.

Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Thanks,

Although adding an entire web application development environment
that
allows you to develop both thin and rich client applications for
less
than three times the cost of the RPG-only tool just doesn't sound so
expensive to me.

For my clients that have subscribed to the WAS/JSF/JSP universe Joe
that is true. But for those who have gone RPG CGI, .Net, PHP, Lansa,
or whatever it is a very high price to pay for the database tools.

Which is the reason I like the integrated approach of EGL over cobbling
together "free" tools to try to build a working environment. It's not
the tools that are free, it's your time.

Joe
