After you have the list of PTFs from the steps Joe gave you, go to www.iseries.ibm.com/support - you will be redirected to the real page - or take the link there. On that page is a link for Fix Central - that is the IBM-recommended place to go. You can maybe just follow your nose, or there should be a guide on that page somewhere. Select individual fixes, then put in the list you got from WDSC. There are several options - order on CD, download a CD image, download to SAVFs, etc. Gotta read the guide, I guess!!

Also run WRKPTFGRP - to see what CUME level you are at - it's always wise to be current on that and the several group PTFs - again, there is a guide to those on the support page.

Hello,

We've just been doing our first go with WDSC recently, something I've
been pushing for a long time. Finally.

Source editing is fine. BUT.

We went to compile an RPGLE program, and got a message that we needed
PTF's to be able to do that. There was NO more information in the
message or the job log or anywhere that would help us get a handle on
which PTFs etc. I haven't handled PTFs for the last fifteen years or so,
and couldn't figure my way to the PTFs on the IBM PTF site either. Sys
admin here is overloaded, and I'm the guy here who is the most eager to
get to the good stuff, so it's me.

I poked around in the archives and on IBM's web site and couldn't find
something helpful.

So my last resort is here, where to go to find these PTFs?!

Thanks
Alan EC

Hi Alan! Welcome to the world of WDSC! Better late than never .

Okay, to start with, go into WDSC into Remote Systems Explorer. Under
your connection you should see an element called "Objects". Right click
on that puppy and select the Verify Connection... option. That will fire
up a dialog that will tell you more than you ever wanted to know about
the connection, including all the PTFs it needs.

Once you've done that, the next step is to get the PTFs, but that's a
different subject, and you can probably find a lot more information for
on the regular midrange-l list.
