Hi susan,

I just tried to open a DSPF member with a right click in RSE and selecting Code designor. I've now lost my WDSc screen although I can see the application is still active in the windows task manager and the logo can be seen when I do Alt tab.

I would really like to get started on EGL, so I would like WDSc V6 to work long enough to be able to show people the most basic of the tutorials. When I try to start the server, I notice that there are a lot of red messages in the console, but the server shows 'started'. Running the application in the browser shows the webpage, but no data from the sample db.

Hi David,

re: your CODE Designer problems - what happens when you try to start it? How are you trying to start it (e.g., from RSE and Open With CODE Designer or from Start > Programs or what?).

Some general problems with CODE I've run into relate to the fact that you must be either an administrator or a power user on the workstation for it to work and the Hosts file on the workstation cannot be read-only. You may want to check those 2 things.

I agree with what some others have said, if I were you, I'd upgrade to V7. I don't think it will do anything for your CODE problems but the RSE is way better.

I can't speak to any EGL issues, but if you want to keep your V6 install intact because of EGL, you can install V7 alongside it. You may be better off installing just the i5/OS RSE, etc. option (e.g., de-select the web tools, and other stuff) when installing V7 if you're mostly interested in it as a PDM/SEU replacement. That way it installs significantly faster and loads a bit faster, requires a bit less memory - at least it seems that way to me compared to my full install of V6.

Subject: [WDSCI-L] WDSc Version

Hi,

I have to say I'm a bit confused.

I'm working on WDSc version 6.0.0.1.

We have OS V5R4.

Do I have the version of WDSc that was distributed with V5R4 ?

I understand RDi will replace the version 7. I don't want to download the trial version, because I don't think my company will pay for it afterwards (Sadly 99% of our developers have stuck with PDM/SEU).

If I managed to get version 7, I'm wondering for how long it'll work. On my version 6, I have problems with DDS, code designor doesn't start. Worse still, I'm trying to get started with EGL and getting a lot of errors when I start the server. The updates for V6 don't seem to be available anymore.
