Subject: [WDSCI-L] RDi and Linux

On a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being very important and 1 being not
important at all, how would you rate the importance of having RDi
running on Linux?

Interesting topic Joe - thanks.

I personally would say that native Linux support should be a very low
priority, maybe even a zero on your scale of 1 to 5. The reason being,
I already can run WDSC in Linux using a virtual machine. While not
'native', it still works quite well.

Vmware is inexpensive and allows me to run native Windows, Linux, and OS
X apps on almost any machine I chose to use. On a recent trip to Mexico
I was able to make some quick changes to an app in Los Angeles,
programming in WDSC 7, using my Nokia N810 Internet Tablet - thanks to
Remote Desktop and my WDSC VM.

In my opinion, native 64 bit support is more important. As RAM gets
cheaper I would love to see the products able to take advantage of that.

After I have my 64 bit support, then I would say native Linux support is
a 4 on your scale :)
