How much of a footprint does it leave on the i? I don't want to consume a
whole bunch of CPU cycles on my customers machines.

If you don't have that, I found a socks proxy implementation in java
that I use to jump network hoops that might be useful to you. Run it on
the i, tell WSDCi to use a network proxy and hack along (no compression
though, waah).
