Which number should I call Joe?
1-800-IBM-SERV

That's the beginning point for everything. It may be a long process, you may have to explain yourself a couple of times, but this is a one-time exercise to get yourself straightened out. Think of it this way, Aaron: support is a cost for IBM. If you can't be bothered to do what it takes to use IBM support services, then why should they bother to give it to you? They're actually better off if all you ever do is post on the list, because they don't *have* to do a thing about it.

Customers have a lot of power. Posting here is making changes to IBM's
approach. They can't ignore us and they have shown they wont ignore us (in
a good way).
Exactly what change is it making? Point to one specific change in the process that you've made. You have short-circuited the process, certainly, but you haven't changed it. All you're doing for certain is making a bit of extra work for the folks who watch this list out of the goodness of their hearts. As far as I know, they don't get paid extra to wade through the morass of garbage that goes through this list (and you have to admit, there's quite a bit of useless drivel here, to which I am not entirely innocent of contributing).

Personally, I think you're taking advantage of the goodwill of the IBMers who watch this list by not using the proper channels. But that's just me; as I said, I come from a different school.

Anyway, we're firmly into opinion land so as you say, we can agree to disagree.

Joe
