You're right, Aaron, there probably should be UPDDTA for emergency or extreme purposes. I question the concept of regularly configuring things by manually editing physical files, but if you have to, you have to. But that's why I recommend one seat of all tools on every machine.Heck, the end of ADTS would be a blessing if only because it removedUPDDTA from the map...
I for one would hate to lose UPDDTA. I am on around 4 to 5 different/new
machines every week (customers machines), and one thing I can always rely on
for editing config physical files is UPDDTA. Sure it is basic and needs to
be locked down for regular users, but basic is exactly what I need in that
case.
Joe, don't let "purism" get in the way of productivity. I won't disagreeCripes, now I'm a "purist". What is this fascination with pigeonholing me, Aaron? You remind me of an ex-girlfriend; she always dragged old issues and irrelevant comments into an argument. I just said that programmers should stop using ADTS. Never once mentioned WRKACTJOB, now did I? So why did you?
that we should look at equivalent features in RDi, but that doesn't mean the
green screen options are bad. For instance, what do you use for viewing
active jobs? WRKACTJOB or iNav? I simply love WRKACTJOB, and it is just 10
keystrokes and two seconds away.
