require in a GUI environment.

I don't understand the question I guess. I'm one of those people who always has an emulator session open because I'm always running some command on the command line. Not PDM, not the programmer menu, not GO MAIN, but the plain Jane command line.

I want all the i5/OS commands available to me, with the results piped over STDOUT so the RSE command line perspective can take the place of an emulator session.

I would say that a PASE command line should be easier to do than an i5/OS command line, because the PASE commands already reply to STDOUT.

If you're fishing for workarounds for specific commands, that's commendable but I vastly prefer a command line to a tree I need to drill through. In particular, I can copy/paste commands I enter on the command line into a script (PASE, Qsh or CL) to make my actions repeatable. Something I have yet to master in a GUI.
