I just tried it and I kept all my undo history. I probably am doing
something different from you. I made a bunch of comments, altered them
a couple times, selected one and did Scripts->Editors->Replace selection

with current date. Alt-Z was able to undo all my changes, and
Shift-Alt-Z was able to re-do them.

Thanks Buck. Apparently I was hallucinating or something yesterday. It
seems to be working for me today. I'll post if I see that behaviour
again.
