David,

I tried this with an earlier version of WDSC and experienced the same issues
you are. IIRC, the only way I could get the changes to write back to the
original location was to export them. Once I realized what was happening I
stayed away from editing anything other than iSeries source or web projects I
created in WDSC.

It would be nice if editing .doc, .xls, or other file types could be done in
WDSC from time to time. Maybe someone has a better answer.

Rick

Thanks Peter,

I've looked in the RemoteSystemsTempFiles folder and found a copy of the
original non modified version of the file. But if the original version is not
modified then what am I looking at when I double click in RSE and see the
modified version ?

David,

I think, if you double-click a file from a remote location, it is
downloaded in your workspace (the RemoteSystemsTempFiles folder comes
to mind), and the local copy is then opened.

That would explain why someone else doesn't see your modifications.

But when you right-click and "open with system editor", it is opened
directly from the remote location.

You could verify this by opening a very large file (i'm talking several MB
here). If it's downloaded locally, you will see a progress box.

Thanks Rick,

Sorry I'll try again.

In my RSE filter, I open a .doc or a .xls with a double click.
I modify and save the fichier.
I close and open the file again with a double click and see my
modifications.
I close and open the file again with a right click open with system
editor and DON'T see my modifications.
