You can download C# Express from Microsoft for free. Apparently you can even use it in developing commercial projects: http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/support/faq/ -----Original Message----- From: wdsci-l-bounces+rdean=landstar.com@xxxxxxxxxxxx on behalf of albartell Sent: Fri 3/23/2007 5:31 PM To: 'Websphere Development Studio Client for iSeries' Subject: [WDSCI-L] SharpDevelop Heyo Seemed better to put this in this list than in the RPG list. I was doing some RPG XML web service integration to C#.NET this week and ended up having to pony up a little on C#.NET so I could test things on my own before handing them off to C#.NET developers. Because I was on the road and didn't have access to Visual Studio I went ahead and downloaded the free SharpDevelop IDE (http://www.icsharpcode.net/OpenSource/SD/) and was curious to know if others have used this to learn the ".NET Way" and test the integration of .NET with their iSeries. Seems like a cheap alternative to Visual Studio and so far I am very impressed with how similar it is to Visual Studio (which I have on a different computer). Any opinions that might steer me away from it? Thanks, Aaron Bartell http://mowyourlawn.com
