I'm one of those 'underground' WDSc users you're talking about Buck. This issue has prodded me to throw in my two cents worth so here it goes: $3500 / seat for this tool is too much when tools that do much more on other platforms are available for next to nothing. The designer should be in the standard version. IBM needs to take into account the fact that everyone that's currently running WDSc has already invested a significant number of dollars when it comes to hardware upgrades, on the job 'fly by the seat of your pants' training, and the lost productivity due to the learning curve. Why should I spend another $3500 and countless hours installing/learning/patching the advanced version? I just can't cost justify it. Sounds like IBM will get real earful at
the next Common conference from programmers.
Aside from the dozen or so active posters to this list, WDSCi is essentially unknown to RPG programmers. Unless there's a secret underground of WDSCi users we don't hear from on this list, there won't be a long line howling about the AE situation. --buck
