Hi Shannon,

The test environment may be having trouble communicating with the server.
Try this:

1. In the Servers view, double click on the WebSphere Application Server
v6.0 entry.
2. In the editor, change the server connection type from RMI to SOAP.
Save the editor and close.
3. Try to start the server again.

Before doing the above you may need to actually kill the WAS server if it
did start. The easiest way to do this is:

1. Shutdown WDSC.
2. Open the Windows Task manager and switch to the Processes tab.
3. Sort by Mem usage.
4. End the java*.exe process with > 100 MB RAM (if there is one, and of
course assuming you are not running any other large Java based
applications!)

Subject
[WDSCI-L] Problem Starting WAS Test Environment 6.0

Hello,

I have installed WDSC 6.0 and I've installed all of the available
updates using the Rational Product Updater.

When I attempt to create a new web service, or actually, anytime I
attempt to start the WAS 6.0 test environment, I get an error telling me
the server cannot start.

I've included the error text below.

The Console shows no errors, the Problems tab shows no errors. All I
see is the Websphere Application 6.0 Server v6.0 in a "starting..."
state and it never moves out of that.

This has been happening since I first installed 6.0. I thought that
once I finally got all 8 Gabillion megabytes of updates from IBM
installed (which took me three days to download!!!) that the problem
would go away, but it has not.

Can someone please offer some suggestions on how I can resolve this?

My software is: IBM Rational Software Development Platform

                         Version 6.0.1

                         Build_ID: 20050725_1800

Thank you,

Shannon O'Donnell
