Here's what I've determined works best for me: Press Alt-R (BlockMarkRectangle) at the upper left position of the area you want to copy and press Alt-R at the lower right position. This highlights the rectangle area in Blue. Then go to the upper leftmost position where you want to paste the highlighted area and press Alt-Z (BlockOverlay).
