Adam - you say you got the first update to work - well, so did I. Then I heard about the mirror site thing, and that never worked nicely. Then I wanted to get the latest - 6.0.1.2 - I have 6.0.1.1 - and that has never worked with the Updater. I sincerely hope you have better luck than I have. I flatly refuse to waste any more time - I have spent way too much of it over the last several MONTHS from time trying to do this. And this in spite of the fact that I know there are things that would make life a little better with the (insert expletive of choice) thing. -------------- Original message -------------- From: AGlauser@xxxxxxxxxxxx

That it willbecome"Windowized" in that we will be thrashing? (Meaning spending more time keeping the product current and working than doing actual constructiveworkfor our business.)I think the complexity is frustrating sometimes too. It can be difficult just to figure out which version of a particular component you are using. I hope this will be ameliorated somewhat by the next release, which is supposed to be a 'componentized' install - ie, if all you do is RPG development, you only install Eclipse, RSE and forget about the rest. As for update troubles, I haven't really had too much trouble with this. Rational Product Updater 'just works' as far as I am concerned. We also managed to download the first fixpack for version 6 and update all of the developers without downloading for hours each time. The only problem I've seen is that the 'updating workbench' portion of the RPU process takes *forever*. I just do the updates overnight, or during a meeting, and then it doesn't waste time.
