Update on EGL issues... <snip> I was able to install EGL and enable it, but now I need to run the (ir)Rational Product Updater. No updates show up, but, if I click on "Find Optional Features" I get the following error message: Component feature "updater.zips.egl.bin.jars.6011.ifix003" not found So, am I looking for fixes that I already have (I am at Version: 6.0.1 Build id: 20050725_1800 and have installed all 3 iFixes, prior to installing EGL). Or is there a problem? </snip> Since no one responded, I contacted IBM. Their suggestion was to uninstall, then reinstall WDSc. Not my first choice, but nothing else seemed to work... It took all day Saturday, but I uninstalled, reinstalled and downloaded updates. I saved my preferences and was able to import those. I had previously been using plugins from other vendors, so I began installing those. The Softlanding plugins installed without a problem. Next I tried to install the Arcad plugins (I use their CMS tools). There seems to be a problem with this as I received an error message when trying to switch to one of their perspectives (it reset the UI...don't have the exact text). Basically the entire workbench was one big grey box. I then shut down WDSc, hoping to restart it and either it would correct itself or I could jot down the error message again. Now comes the problem... When I start WDSc I get the Arcad signon popup box (this is normal), then nothing...the workbench never starts. Eclipse runs for 2-3 minutes (splash screen shows), then it ends. I plan to contact Arcad, but, in the meantime, I'd like to keep trying to get the workbench started...any perspective. I think the current problem is that it is trying to start the Arcad perspective (which did not load correctly). If I could somehow tell it to start a different perspective (like RSE) I think it would be OK (I had RSE up before I started messing with Arcad). Does anyone know where this setting might be stored? I took all defaults when installing (folders, etc.). I'll be contacting Arcad to see what I screwed up. The only other thing I can think of doing is to uninstall/reinstall again...but that means another whole day wasted. I would really prefer to avoid that if I can. Thanks to anyone who can point me in the right direction...I'll owe you a cold one! (Or, if you're anywhere near Wisconsin, a hot toddy might be more appropriate...) --Bruce Guetzkow
