Yes - I did look at the Edit ---> Find and replace and tried Ctl f.

understand your reasons, and appreciate the things you have done with 
the
compare to give us that much.

I did some tests with Java and those features seem to be disabled for that 
as well.  So I'd guess the Eclipse editor just doesn't support it.  I 
think they really want to discourage you from editing code in that editor 
and just use it to review/accept changes.
