Frank, what version are you using? I am using 6 and have a PMR in for this issue..

There are at least 2 things going on. In order to prevent the shift, you are supposed to go to Windows->Preferences->Remote Systems->iSeries->LPEX Editor Parsers. There you click "Column sensitive editing". Now everything is fine if you do one replace at a time. But if you have the search-replace panel open and click on "replace all", the column sensitivity is tossed out the window (so to speak).

So column sensitive editing works when turned on for individual instances. Replace all still ignores column sensitive editing, at least on my machine.

I will let y'all know when this gets fixed. Don't hold your breath for a quick fix, however. In the meantime, 2 workarounds, IMO:

1. For replace all, make the search and replace text the same length - pad with blanks if needed.

or

2. Do one at a time, being sure to have turned on column sensitive editing.

BTW, column sensitivity can be a real downer when trying to move things out of /free into old style and vice versa, or copying things in from PDFs, etc.

Hi All

I searched for MREQ and replace it with REQ. All my D specs that were
replaced shifted and became invalid. Can RSE do a search and replace and
NOT SHIFT the other data.
