You're correct...I haven't worked with RPG III in a LOOONG time. Still
the compiler should have an option to not create the EVFEVENT files same
as the ILE compiler...

This is something that most folks still using SEU,etc. Most likely are
not even aware of, if they are compiling with *SRCDBG then EVFEVENT is
useless to them. From what I can determine the file is only used to
provide feedback info to WDSC for the error listing on compiles.
Non-WDSC shops are using disk space they don't know they are using.

Any IBM'ers that can chime in on this? I know several shops that may
fall into this category. If this is the case then is there any
documentation that I can point them to??

Thanks,
Tommy Holden

I think that's on ILE only. I believe it's when you compile an OPM
program with OPTION(*SRCDBG) that an EVFEVENT is generated. Since
Rich's company seems a little slow to move forward, I figure they're
probably still generating some OPM programs.

It defaults to noevfevent...

I haven't worked in SEU lately, but I seem to recall compiling for
source debug generated some EVFEVENT files. So that still happens on
the green screen -- (maybe not as much, but they're still generated).

Other than EVFEVENT files it doesn't....everything for WDSC is already
on the iSeries....even if they are not using it...
