I couldn't get the updates to connect even though I had the updates proxy
settings in the preferences set.  I found in the updater help that I need
to manually create a file called httpProxy.properties in order for it to
work.  And it does work.

But - why isn't this file created by setting the proxy info in
Preferences|Updates?
