Problem solved - or at least we hope so! I should have remembered this one but I've been to sleep a lot of times since it last arose! Problem is caused by having the workspace on a shared network drive. Sadly IBM defaults the workspace to MyDocuments (does anyone _ever_ want it there?) and in some shops that is on a networked drive so that it can be backed up each night. The performance profile of such a network drive is for occasional store/retrieval use. When WDSc hits it from multiple users all making lots of itty-bitty file entries etc. performance goes to hell in a hand basket. It would be really nice if IBM would build a check into WDSc and issue a warning if you attempt to use a non-local drive! Jon Paris Partner400 www.Partner400.com www.RPGWorld.com
