Anyone got any thought on what could cause this?

New installs (v5.1.2) on XP - machines have 1Gb of memory.

Creating a new connection takes 4 - 5 MINUTES!

Similarly loading a source member into the editor takes forever.

Some of the machines (< 50%) are operating at a reasonable speed but still
not as good as the hardware should allow for.

Once source is loaded everything is OK.

Any thoughts?  I suspect it is a network issue, but can't think what.
