VisualAge RPG and DB2 Personal (Developer's) Edition

Hi group,

My searches in the manuals and the IBM InfoCenter have not been able to 
supply me with a clear answer to the following question:

Is it possible to use embedded SQL in VisualAge RPG to connect to a 
database on the same PC in DB2 PE or DB2 PDE?

As a side question, I understood that *remote files in VARPG always need 
to be on an AS/400 - iSeries - i5 - iNameDuJour.  Or can you also use a 
local DB2 PE for this?
