Success! I downloaded the latest Sun JVM, j2re1.4.2_07.
Also changed wdsc.ini to comment out the VMArgs=-Xj9 parm.
My coworker who originally has this working spent a few hours a couple of months ago trying to get all the Java applications on his machine to use the same JVM. The WDSC instructions came from an article in Midrange Guru, Volume 3, Number 75 on November 7, 2003.
Incidentallty, when I installed the JRE it put it into Program Files. I could not get the -vm parameter to accept the blank, even after using ", ', '' and ''' around it. I finally must moved the whole Jave directory to the root.
