Yes, I noticied it after installing 5.1.2 as well.
That's a change in the wrong direction from earlier versions, IMHO.

Thanks,

Kelly,

I noticed this change a while back after applying an update. I'm not sure
which one, 5.1.2 I think. The split and join behavior can be used by pressing
alt-s or alt-j respectively. In your case, position the cursor to the end of
ws-my-variable and press alt-j. this will move the -name line to the end of
the ws-my-variable line. Unfortunately you will have to remove leading spaces.

HTH,

Rick

Subject: [WDSCI-L] Question about LPEX Editor behavior

The behavior of my LPEX editor seems to have changed, and I'm missing something
on how to change it back.

Suppose I have accidentally pressed the Enter key and split a line as follows:

000001 01 WS-MY-VARIABLE
000002 -NAME PIC X(10).

What I'd like to do is using my backspace key or delete key to remove the
spaces between VARIABLE and -NAME to put the line back together again.

Now, however, if I position my cursor in front of the -NAME, I can backspace to
the beginning of the line but no further. It gets to this point and stops:

000001 01 WS-MY-VARIABLE
000002-NAME PIC X(10).

Pressing backspace does nothing else. Nor does placing the cursor after
WS-MY-VARIABLE and pressing the delete key bring the line back together.
Basically, I have to cut and paste, which takes me longer and is annoying.

I'm pretty sure I remember being able to bring lines back together with my
backspace or delete keys. What did I do to change the editor behavior? How can
I change it so my backspace or delete keys will bring two lines together?

Also, I have gone to Window > Preferences > Remote Systems > iSeries > LPEX
Editor Parsers > COBOL a couple of times now and made sure the automatic syntax
checking box was unchecked. I definitely checked the Apply button. I've even
restarted WDSCi and my PC to make sure changes took effect (though this should
really have nothing to do with it). Yet, I still messages popping up regarding
syntax while I code. For example, if I split a line, I might see this:

Kelly
