Hi,

Since you're talking about RPG CGI... no, you can't use the WDSC test
environment for it since it needs an environment that runs RPG, and that can
only be done on iSeries itself.

You can however create multiple webservers on iSeries that work independendly,
so that shouldn't be a problem (if you have at least access to one).

As far as CGI versus other technologies goes... it offers you the option to
reuse your existing skills which can get you started in no time. While Java
has benefits, the learning curve can push you weeks, months, ... back in time.

We have build websites (including a webbanking one) that are all written in CGI
RPG, so I can prove it works for all sorts of applications.

Kind regards,
Paul

V5.1.2 available

Hi,

I recently attended a conference that had several sessions on CGI
programming for RPG programmers. (RPG World in Orlando)

The presentations were great and I am looking to experiment with
it as time allows. So, my question is, Can I use the test servers
that are a part of WDSC to experiment with this type of
communications?

Am I wasting my efforts because CGI is such a dog that no one is
going in that direction?

And finally, where can I get information on CGI and WDSC? I
cannot find any at any of the links at IBM or its not specific to
WDSC. (Pick one)

Thanks

BTW... I am not interested in jsp or asp or the like.
