The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.

Do you have a pop-up blocker running?
Only internal to Mozilla Firefox, nothing that should affect other programs.
Are you saying the help system is a web browser connecting to a server
(locally)?

On the Window ->Preferences -> Help -> Help Server tab, you need to specify
either the pc name or the ip address. Leave the port as 0.
Interesting. I tried 127.0.0.1 then the current IP address (shutting
down the program each time since it said it wouldn't take affect until
the help server was restarted.)
I then tried changing the setting to use the default web browser. I got
a Firefox window that displayed some help info and a popup error message:
http://127.0.0.1:3980/help/index.jsp
Windows cannot find 'http://127.0.0.1:3980/help/index.jsp'. Make sure
you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file,
click the Start button, and then click Search.
After I clicked OK I got another popup error:
Help Error
Your system has no program registered for file
http://127.0.0.1:3980/help/index.jsp. Change the file association or
choose a different help web browser in the preferences.
Other than that, so far the help is browsable!
It must be something flaky on my "Embedded Internet Explorer Adapter"
Thanks for everyone's help! This has been frustrating me for a really
long time.
(I do get the popup errors every time I hit help, but at least the help
displays after the error messages.)
