OK, I started WDSC Advanced and put in a new workspace name in the prompt -
I think that's how you create a new one, as far as I understand the help
text. It came up without my various connections, so I guess it worked. When
I looked for available updates, still nothing. When I put in a New Bookmark
that pointed at the update site, it gave me the same messages - in fact, it
looks as if things were cached, so the previous condition is not cleared.
Reinstall is what I'm going to do - NUTS!
But maybe it'll clear up my CODE problem.

renaming the files back as well.
