Can I get you to try a couple of things so we can narrow down the problem?
1. Shutdown your workbench and delete the /.metadata/.log file under your
workspace root (the default for this would be: C:\Documents and
Settings\%windowsID%\My Documents\IBM\wdsc\workspace
2. Start the workbench and go to the Remote Systems -> iSeries -> Cache
preference page and clear the cache.
3. Verify your source member, but this time prompt the verify and on the
cache page select the "Refresh Cache" checkbox.
Does the verify complete? (It might take a while as it builds up the cache
but should definitely not take 4 hours!) If this does not complete then
please send me the /.metadata/.log file directly.
If the above does complete successfully then please try to verify again
without the "refresh cache" checkbox checked. If this fails then please
send the same .log file.

In my situation I let it run for about 4 hours and the Outline view didn't
complete so I figured something must be wrong.
I do not have the "Disable Caching" box checked so I should be fine from
that end of things.

The first time you verify this source or refresh the outline view for it
all of the /copy members will be downloaded and cached along with all the
external descriptions. How long this takes is dependent on quite a few
things (network speed, iSeries workload, # of externally described files
and /copy members, ....). However from then on it the verify and refresh
of the outline view will use the cached information (unless you specify
refresh cache, make sure you don't have this default selected on the
caching preferences page) which should be a lot quicker.

Hi all,
I just installed 5.1 with seamless ease and migration from 5.0(thanks for
that!). I have come across my first problem:-) When I first open WDSc 5.1
I don't have it connecting to my iSeries, but I do have it retain the state
of my environment (all of my RPG source members are open as I left them).
In 5.0 I could immediately start editing the source members without having
to connect, and when I saved it the connection would automatically happen.
With 5.1 if I don't connect to my iSeries manually before I do a save on my
source member it just sits there locked stating that it is connecting to my
iSeries, but after 3 minutes nothing has happened (usually takes 5 - 8
seconds).
I tried clicking the "Cancel current process" red square beside the
scrolling "Working on something" indicator at the bottom of the screen. It
just sits there and hangs. . . Same is true if I try to do an Outline on a
2000+ line source member (99% is sub procs).
Just like Mike Wills I also cannot seem to get Code Assist to work for
variables or bifs. I type in % and then Ctl + Enter and nothing happens.
I
looked through the LPex editor settings and didn't see anything in there.
Any suggestions?
**Note** I don't have all of the "Missing PTF's" installed yet being that I
just installed this last night.
