V5.0 Removed file associations don't go away -- WDSCI-L

I tried to create a file association for Excel spreadsheets in my
preferences.  It wasn't working so I removed the association.  When I right
click on a spreadsheet file it still shows the default editor I removed.
Going back into the file associations shows the .xls association still in
the list.  Is there a trick to this?
