Thanks for the reply Don. They did mention that CL prompting in LPEX did not work. Any reason the command prompter would not work but other stuff would? I noticed that when I did a copy of a member, it eventually just prompted the CPYSRCF command, so that seems like the common denominator. The Toolbox in turn uses the OS/400 host servers (a link to these ports was provided in a previous note from Doug). The exception here is the port 4300 you mentioned. This port (which is listening on the PC as opposed to OS/400) is used for "call backs" from server side to the PC side. This is used by the STRRSESVR command and the integrated debugger. That's it. You mentioned that copying a source member does not work when you are connected via VPN. We are not sure why this would fail, can you provide some more details on this please. Also can you try to prompt any command when working from VPN. We will get this information added to the online help for next release. Thanks. The way we use our VPN, we have to explictly open every port that we want to use. Is there a list documented anywhere of what ports WDSC uses to connect to the iSeries? We have opened the DDM/JDBC ports as well as all of the ones used by the Java Toolbox and the Host Servers, but it appears that there are still others that are used, perhaps for RSE. I found a troubleshotting document in the help that says you will need to allow traffic on all of the ports, but of course it doesn't bother to tell you what those ports are.
