Hi all,

Anybody who feels up to extending the functionality of the LPEX editor by writing your own plugin to add custom user commands and user actions can find all the information that you need to get started in Eric Simpson's articles in the Feb. & Jun. issues of eServer magazine.

But even short of doing that, there's a lot of good stuff to be found just in the default commands that you get out of the box. Just type 'help' (this is a command itself) in the command line under the editor, press Enter, then click on 'Default editor commands'. Read the descriptions of the various commands, then experiment with any that sound like they might be useful to you. This might be old news to most of you, but one place I've found these commands useful is in the iSeries Indent view. If you open an RPGLE source member, then select Source-->Show Indentation from the toolbar menu, the Indent view is shown. But there's very little you can do with it other than browse it (which can be very useful). BUT, since this view is using LPEX just like the editor, you can run any of the default commands from the command line. For example, 'print' is very useful if you want an indented source listing. 'findText' is also useful (to search for text in the indented view), or you can also use the /text shortcut.

Hope this is useful to someone.

Diz
