There is no magical bullet that I am aware of and potentially many files for
you to convert. We had similar issues on a large scale many years ago with
regards to different UoM for a single item. We bit the bullet and
converted.

You need to remember that many files like Inventory (INP60/3) and BOM
(MSP28) contain quantities, calculated usages, etc. that will need to be
converted. It isn't simply changing the UoM.

Good Luck.

Subject: [SYSTEM21] Inventory question (System 21)

We have some user who wants to change the purchasing unit of measure on an
existing part that has transactions against it. Naturally, the system
will not let you do it because of the ramifications. The users do not
want the part number to changed since we share the part number with 2 of
our sister companies. The purchasing unit of measure will go from pounds
to kilograms. Has anyone had any similar issues? If so, any comments?
Thanks, Margaret
