How about this:

When the user pushes the function key, prompt for an email address, create a
comma delimited file, and email it as an attachment to the email address
supplied.

(you could simplify this process if you maintain a table of email addresses)

Another method that I've used quite successfully is to embed a MS Query
query into an Excel spreadsheet. You can have the user click on a button to
kick off the query which refreshes the data in the spreadsheet with the
contents of the workfile.

Subject: [SYSTEM21] Re:- Down loading AS/400 file to excel

Dear All

We have a custom made sub file program to show sales history and trying to
have a function key to extract what ever data shown on the as/400 screen to
download into excel.

The data is stored in a work file in AS/400 and using client access I was
able to get it from Excel menu. Does anyone know a different method as we
only have one license for CL.

I am looking for a simple method for end users. Tried ODBS without much
success.

Thanks

Suren
