Why not write a .csv file directly to the IFS. There is great documentation
(with downloadable samples) on working with the IFS at

Subject: [SYSTEM21] Re:- Down loading AS/400 file to excel

Dear All

We have a custom made sub file program to show sales history and trying to
have a function key to extract what ever data shown on the as/400 screen to
download into excel.

The data is stored in a work file in AS/400 and using client access I was
able to get it from Excel menu. Does anyone know a different method as we
only have one license for CL.

I am looking for a simple method for end users. Tried ODBS without much
success.

Thanks

Suren
