Hi Guy The company profile setting only changes the default to 'S' for new items. You can leave the company profile at something else but only change the individual items if you want to have both controlled and uncontrolled items in the same company. Item set up before changing the default will retain their old setting. You must enter a serial number for all movements for controlled items, the quantity must always be 1 - that is every unit must have a unique ID. The ID is created new for receipts (must NOT already exist), but must already exist for issues etc. Regards Peter Joel Saltway Ltd +44 7884 306501 -----Original Message----- From: system21-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:system21-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of GGenevieve@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: 23 July 2003 12:56 To: jbausers-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [SYSTEM21] Inventory Management : Serial Number Hello We have a user who wants to control part of his stock by item serial number. From what I have gathered in Infobase, you need to modify the company profile, and at item level use Lot Control type 'S'. You also need to input a 'Serial Number' for each transaction involving a lot controlled item. On a more practical aspect, I would like to have any tips from those who have already implemented Serial Numbers. We need to know whether it is more of a burden for users rather than help them.
