CLNUSRALC does not remove any records and I never claimed it did... It simply updates the time stamp for those records marked with a "Time Request Finished" of 999999 with the current time if that job is no longer active in the system... Then it updates the ICF03PHY records with the current summary count of active records (those records still marked with a "Time Request Finished" of 999999)... The job that actually cleans out the old records in ICF04PHY is the CFDAYEND job... We run that every night after we end QINTER and bring down all of the background subsystems and run AMDAYEND (which archives the records in APG02PHY into APG02ARC...)... All done in Machine Manager... Works like a charm... Just out of curiosity, how many records do you have in your IPGCFF4/ICF04PHY and IPGAMF4/APG02PHY files...? I have 59 in IPGCFF4/ICF04PHY and 143 in IPGAMF4/APG02PHY... Hope that clears up any confusion... FYI...We have never cleared down ICF04PHY, but just tried it by running CLNUSRALC. The command did not remove any records from ICF04PHY, but it did make a difference to ICF03PHY. -----Original Message----- From: Jeff_Klipa/Harvard@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:Jeff_Klipa/Harvard@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, March 06, 2003 7:56 AM To: CN=GEAC/O=JBA System 21 Users Subject: [SYS21] Re: Determining number of licenses used. Use the CLNUSRALC command to clean up the allocated licenses/seats in ICF04PHY... We run this every hour on the hour... You can think of ICF03PHY as the summary record and ICF04PHY as the detail records... ICF03PHY holds the summarized count of active seats consumed by detail records in ICF04PHY... The problem is that the ICF04PHY records don't always get marked as finished if they end abnormally... CLNUSRALC verifies those allocations much the same way as XA705 does for APG02PHY, which controls task exclusivity... There is a date/time stamp for start and finish... The time request finished field is defaulted to 999999 when the request record is written... A request record is written whenever an action requesting a license is initiated... Whenever a new license is needed it first checks ICF03PHY to see if the limit is hit... I don't think it even looks at ICF04PHY but I could be wrong... All I know is that if you check the summary record before and after running CLNUSRALC you will probably see a difference... Especially if you don't run it regularly... Good luck...
