This is a variation on your question (and maybe more suited to Midrange-L), but we made a decision two weeks ago to not upgrade any further past V4r5. We run a 620-2179 and I felt $7,000 per year for the software subscription service was no longer cost justifiable. I realize official support for v4r5 ends 12/31/02, but my understanding is IBM will still provide support for one more year after that? Our system is very stable right now. Anyway, I would rather spend the $7,000 per year on a larger used system (if needed). Any comments? If so, what type of problems (if any) did you encounter, and how did you resolve them?
